Here is a Tirailleur of the 4eme Regiment de Tirailleurs Tunisiens (4th Tunisian Infantry) during the Belvédère battle in Italy. This battle took place during the first part of the Monte Cassino's offensive between the 25th of january and the 4th of february 1944. The CEF (French Expeditionary Corp in Italy) tried to brake the german positions of the Gustave Line. The 4eme RTT during a week of battle in very rough climatic condition gave a full assault on mountains defensive position. Bayonet assault, huge artillery barrage, company extermination to the last man. Almost all the officers have been killed or wounded.
