Hi. Here is a figure upon my ancestor that served in the 81st Infantry Regiment during the Franco-Prussian war in 1870. The battle of Mars-la-Tour took place on the 16th of August 1870. The battle was at the beginning in favor of the French Army but the high command failed to exploit the victory that could crush of two Prussian Corps. This tragedy forced the Rhin's Army to retreat to Metz. The figure is highly weathered. Some huge rain and the lack of comfort in the French ranks had an impact on the fancies uniforms... Voici une figurine représentant un de mes ancêtres servant au 81ème Régiment d'Infanterie en 1870. Elle représente un officier lors de la bataille de Mars-la-Tour le 16 août 1870.
